Together, we’re making a safe and responsible transition to renewable energy in Colorado.

AES is committed to bringing a successful transition to clean energy, while also investing in our local and neighboring communities. Colorado became the first state with a voter-approved renewable portfolio standard (RPS). As the state continues to lead renewable energy transitions, AES is developing and delivering solutions to optimize energy use and storage. We are committed to helping Colorado achieve its goal of 100% renewable electricity generation by 2040.

With a focus on solar power and battery storage, we have 1,600 megawatts of planned energy development in Colorado. AES also has an operating portfolio of over 50 smaller solar systems across the state. Our solar energy projects consistently create local jobs, low-cost electricity, and substantial property tax revenue for the state and local governments. We also invest in local nonprofits, businesses and education to make Colorado’s clean energy goals beneficial for everyone.

Impact we're making

Our projects generate stable tax revenue that funds county and local services, such as education, infrastructure, and rural economic development. On top of this, we work hard to bring community benefits through employee volunteerism, donations to local institutions and programs and meaningful partnerships.

Landowners

We present landowners with new opportunities to capitalize on the value of their land while retaining ownership throughout the project life cycle. For many, this is a welcome complement to current land use and an opportunity to diversify their land investment while hedging against volatile commodity prices. For others, our projects offer an income stream and land-use option where none otherwise existed.

Our teams and landowners work together, in partnership, from the beginning stages of site discussions, through permitting, construction, and operation. The landowner relationship with AES begins early, is built on trust and open communication, ensuring a beneficial partnership for everyone.
